Our 5* IDC Facilities
Warm Water Divers operates two 5* PADI Dive
Centers and
one 5* Instructor Development Center, all
located in Patong Beach, Phuket,
Thailand.
All our Instructor Development takes place in
our NEW IDC dedicated training
Centre, opened in October 2002,
with the water work taking place at our 5* Instructor
Development Centre located in The Amari Coral
Beach Resort.
The ground floor of our NEW training centre
houses our Technicians Work Shop - very useful
if something goes wrong with your equipment during
the IDC / IE - and also stores all our rental
equipment with a large secure area for washing,
drying and storing dive equipment.
The next two floors are dedicated to Instructor
Development.
The top floor is where our main IDC classroom
is located - this was purpose built for IDCs with
state of the art facilities.
 The
main classroom here seats 14 students and staff
and is complete with carpet, wooden panelling,
sound proofing, air conditioning, white boards,
video, projector screen, LCD projector, computer
and offers full multimedia support. Each table
even has it's own power sockets to accommodate
the increasing number of IDC candidates using
computers and digital accessories.
Our PADI library, complete with all digital products,
is also located here.
There is also an area here with an endless supply
of coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cold water complete
with refrigerator and bathroom.
There is a staircase to the open roof area -
a large shaded recreational area with a view over
Patong and a haven for those that need that cigarette
(or 3) before the next presentation.
The middle floor contains another classroom of
the same standard as our main classroom and is
used for a variety of purposes: the IDC Prep is
run here whilst the IDC Staff Instructor Course
takes place upstairs and during the larger IDCs
we split into two groups at the end of the day
for the IDC candidates Classroom presentations
- the second group using this classroom.
We also use this classroom for the practical
sessions of the DAN Oxygen Provider, DAN Oxygen
Instructor Courses as well as skill development
of the Emergency First Response Instructor Course
as we have more floor space here.
The Amari Coral Beach Resort is
one of Phuket's top 5* Hotels and was in fact
the first to be built in Patong Bay. It is located
to the south of Patong Bay on the edge of a secluded
beach, only a few minutes from the NEW IDC Training
Centre.
We have two classrooms here in fulltime use, which
are what we use for our
regular scuba classes.
The hotel has two excellent
swimming pools: for the IDC we use the 25 x 10
metre "El Gritta" pool. This is an excellent
pool for training - with a nice shallow end and
gentle slope to the deep end making it perfect
for conducting the various skills with different
depth requirements during your IDC.
Next to the pool are the classrooms and equipment
room with compressor, tanks & weights and
an area for you to store your dive equipment.
For the IDC Open Water training we go first is
right off "our" beach and is a nice
swim 20m away from our classrooms & equipment
room, on the edge of our beautiful house reef.
Conditions are calm for most of the year making
it ideal for IDC training.
We also use these reefs for a variety of local
Specialty Instructor Training programs after the
IDC.
